Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, crowned 1st runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, overcame a turbulent path to achieve her global ranking as the top African contestant this year. Her journey was marred by controversy, notably her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 pageant amid allegations of identity theft. Undeterred, she entered Miss Universe Nigeria mid-competition as Miss Taraba, competing against notable contestants such as Miss Anambra Paula Ezendu and Miss Rivers Nyekachi Douglas, ultimately securing victory.

Following her Miss Universe achievement, Adetshina thanked the Silverbird Group on Instagram, calling the experience a realized dream. As an appointed brand ambassador of Enugu State since October 10, 2024, she expressed appreciation to Governor Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah for the honor.

Before the grand finale, she addressed her supporters, writing, “o my dearest Nigerians, with open arms, you carried me on wheels made of the purest love and intentions… Nigeria refueled my purpose and my reason to live.”
