Nigerian music star Davido has shared insights into his philanthropic efforts and his stance on drug addiction, distinguishing marijuana from hard drugs. Speaking on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido revealed that for three consecutive years, he has donated to orphanages and charitable causes on his birthday.
The tradition began after a 2021 tweet sharing his bank account number unexpectedly raised nearly $400,000 from fans. Davido explained, “My dad called me saying I couldn’t keep the money, so we donated it to motherless babies’ homes.” He continued the practice the following year and now uses his foundation for donations.
This year, his focus is on combating drug addiction. While advocating for the cause, Davido clarified, “I don’t count weed as a drug; it’s medicinal for some people.” He expressed concern over the rising impact of drug abuse, emphasizing his dedication to supporting affected children.
