Frank Lampard has been named the new manager of Championship side Coventry City, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract following the dismissal of Mark Robins on November 7. The club announced the appointment on Thursday, posting on X, “A new chapter in Coventry. Welcome, Frank.”
Lampard takes over with Coventry in 17th place, 10 points off the playoff spots. The Chelsea legend brings coaching experience from stints at Chelsea, Derby County, and Everton, including serving as Chelsea’s interim boss in 2023.
Mark Robins, who was sacked after Coventry’s poor start to the season, had a transformative impact during his tenure. He guided the team from League Two to the Championship and took them to the 2023 playoff final, narrowly missing Premier League promotion.
