In a recent interview with Channels Television, Nigerian singer Timaya reflected on his early career, noting the similarities between himself and Zazu singer Portable. Timaya shared how Portable’s wild persona reminds him of his own past, revealing that he once told 2Baba about Portable, saying, “That guy is just like me because I was a crazy guy.”

Timaya acknowledged that while today’s Gen Z audience may view him as calm and unproblematic, they don’t know the wild side of his early career. “I was really crazy back then, but it was all a strategy. Now, I’ve calmed down,” he admitted.

Addressing rumors from his past, Timaya also clarified that he never had any negative encounters with military personnel, emphasizing that despite his wild behavior, he always applied wisdom in his actions. He added that his unique style, which diverged from the love songs popular at the time, helped him rise to fame.
