Renowned Nigerian DJ DJ Jimmy Jatt, born Oluwaforijimi Amu, revealed in a recent interview on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds that he lost his sight in 2020 and was later diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
The veteran DJ shared that his health challenges began after he decided to spend more time abroad in 2019. “Maybe I caused it myself because, in 2019, I decided to spend more time outside Nigeria. I had lived all my life in Lagos and wanted to explore other parts of the world—Europe, America, everywhere,” he said.
In 2020, while in Nigeria, DJ Jimmy Jatt lost his sight and underwent surgery to regain it. Afterward, he relocated to the U.S. where he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and was placed on dialysis. He later returned to Nigeria for a kidney transplant and took time off to recover before resuming his DJing career across America and Europe.
DJ Jimmy Jatt clarified that his kidney disease was not caused by lifestyle choices, as he had never smoked and had long stopped drinking alcohol. He attributed his condition to diabetes and stressed the importance of health awareness.
