One year after his sudden hospitalization, American singer and actor Jamie Foxx has disclosed that he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke. Foxx shared his experience in his newly released Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, revealing that the ordeal began with a severe headache on April 11, 2023.
Recounting the incident, Foxx said he asked for an aspirin but blacked out before he could take it, losing consciousness for 20 days. Initially misdiagnosed after receiving a cortisone injection, his condition worsened until his sister recognized something was wrong and took him to Piedmont Hospital.
Doctors informed Foxx’s family that immediate brain surgery was necessary to save his life, though they were unable to locate the source of the bleed. Despite the severity of his condition, Foxx has since recovered. In July 2023, he debunked rumors of blindness and paralysis in a social media video, thanking fans for their support.
The Netflix special marks the first time Foxx has shared the full details of his life-threatening health scare, shedding light on the critical moments and his journey to recovery.
