Mavin Records was founded in 2012 by Don Jazzy as a beacon of creativity and talent in the African music scene. Building on the legacy of the now-defunct Mo Hits Records, Don Jazzy’s vision for the future of Afrobeat took flight, propelling Mavin Records to unprecedented heights.
Mavin Records has been a breeding ground for some of the most recognisable Afrobeats singers, producers, and business people during the previous 12 years. The label has always taken the lead, establishing itself as a strong platform for international artists like Wande Coal, Korede Bello, Tiwa Savage, and others in the early 2010s. Currently, Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Bayanni, Boy Spyce, Lifesize Teddy, & DJ Big N are signed to the same label.
From Mavin’s storied come-up to the rich history of its emergence on the global music landscape, there’s no denying the label’s pivotal role in shaping Afrobeats – both as an industry and as a genre.
Mavin Records is celebrating its twelfth year and is still pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and quality. The largest musical label in the world, Universal Music, has paid millions of dollars to acquire the bulk of Mavin musical, solidifying the label’s position as the top record label in Nigeria.
