According to Mr. Obi Asika, the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) is Nigeria’s version of the Olympics of culture.

Starting on November 22, 2024, and lasting for eight days, the event would be held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement sent to media over the weekend, Asika stated that NCAC has redesigned the concept and aimed to provide a top-notch event in November with the subject “Connected Culture.”

The statement emphasized that throughout the eight days, visitors and cultural ambassadors would have the opportunity to witness Nigeria’s amazing culture.

According to him, the event’s highlights would be stand-up comedians and performing troupes, superstar and up-and-coming Nigerian artistes, a book fair, and states competing in the Dance-Off, Sing-Off, and Swag Show.

The statement added: “We will have Dambe exhibitions and masquerades and more as we bring the traditional and modern culture to one place and one city. NAFEST will be at the national stadium, at the arts village, at multiple galleries and other venues as we open up Abuja as a cultural and entertainment destination.

“The Jollof Wars will crown the best dish, while eight galleries led by @rv_windsor will host exhibitions and panel discussions around our theme and we will celebrate our ambassadors at the NCAC Honors gala. The NCAC colloquium will feature inter-generational conversations and reflect shared heritage and culture. Get ready and come out to celebrate, connect, enjoy and participate as we bring together the best of our country to showcase the best of all our cultures.”
