As of right now, Bruno Labbadia, a German strategist, has been named the next coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Using the hashtag #thenff, the NFF’s X handle revealed Labbadia’s appointment in an early-morning tweet on Tuesday.

The statement read, “The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Super Eagles.”

“The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development sub-committee to appoint Mr Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles,” according to the federation’s General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi.

Following the resignation of previous coach Finidi George, Labbadia takes over as the 37th head coach of the Super Eagles.

The three-time African champions hope that Labbadi’s hiring will increase their prospects of qualifying.

The Eagles’ African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign will begin on September 7 against Benin Republic, and three days later, they will face Rwanda.

The former player for Bayern Munich, Labbadia, was born on February 8, 1966.

He has held managerial positions with a number of German teams, such as Bayer Leverkusen, Darmstadt 98, and VfB Stuttgart.
