Nicolas Jackson, a forward for Chelsea, has responded to Mikel Obi, a former midfielder for the Blues, who recently criticized Jackson for his play.
Jackson warned the former Chelsea player “to shut his mouth” after Mikel implied that the striker missed too many opportunities in the match against Manchester City on Sunday.
Additionally, Mikel had said that Chelsea would want to consider adding Victor Osimhen as an alternative.
“Jackson answered his critics on the pitch by scoring Chelsea’s opening goal in their 6-2 victory over Wolves, marking the club’s fastest Premier League goal since 2017,” he took to social media to address Mikel’s comments directly, the post read.
“Mikel Obi, shut your mouth, don’t talk sh*t, we are killing ourselves for Africa,” Jackson wrote in a post on Instagram, making his feelings about the criticism clear.
The 37-year-old Mikel targeted Jackson’s goal-scoring ability on beIN Sport during Chelsea’s last-week 2-0 loss to Manchester City. The Blues icon said, “We created chances, we haven’t taken them. And just an example of how Jackson finishes.
“You can see there, even though he was offside, he dribbles [past] one, two, or three players, and the way he shoots the ball!
“You need a striker who knows how to hit a ball back in the back of the net, and that’s what we don’t have.
“I know I talk so much about him, and sometimes I sound like I disrespect him. I don’t disrespect him.
“I think at Chelsea Football Club we need a top striker who can get us a goal.
“A bit like [Haaland], 91 goals [for City] that’s absolutely unbelievable.”
