The New York African Film Festival (NYAFF) is set to showcase the vibrant storytelling of Nollywood with the inclusion of three acclaimed films – “Over the Bridge,” “This Is Lagos,” and “Dynamite” – in its lineup of 50 films from over 25 countries.
The festival, which kicked off on Wednesday, May 8, will continue until May 14, offering audiences a diverse cinematic experience.
Under the theme “Convergence of Time,” the 31st edition of the festival explores the intersection of historical and contemporary narratives portrayed by African and diasporic artists. This thematic focus delves into the multifaceted roles played by individuals who represent Africa and its diaspora in the realm of art.
Since its inception in 1993, NYAFF has been a platform for showcasing films that celebrate the rich cultural heritage and diverse narratives of Africa and its diaspora.
Through the years, the festival has provided audiences with a window into the myriad voices and stories that define the African experience, both past and present.
