Veteran Nigerian rapper Michael Stephens, known as Ruggedman, has explained why he does not have children.

Speaking on TVC’s Your View Pidgin, the 51-year-old artist stated, “I am not currently in any relationship, nor am I married, and I do not have a child yet. When I was much younger, I vowed never to have a child out of wedlock.”

He admitted sometimes questioning his decision but emphasized that parenthood requires commitment from both parties and should only happen with someone he truly loves.

Reflecting on his early career, Ruggedman suggested that his involvement in entertainment may have influenced his personal choices. “I blame entertainment a little because when we came into the industry, we didn’t know much—our focus was just on entertainment,” he said.

He also recalled a friend’s remark: “Make person never go use him, wife, to do girlfriend,” implying that his career focus affected his relationships and choices.
