Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has revealed he survived a shooting incident while in his car, days after being released from prison.

Sharing his ordeal on Instagram on January 27, 2025, the singer posted a video showing bullet holes in the rear of his vehicle and bullets reportedly retrieved from the car. He credited police officers at the scene for preventing the attacker from getting closer.

“Thank God for security personnel… I heard gunshots coming at our direction when I was coming out of the club in VI,” he said, alleging that the attack was an attempt to silence him. “They don dey send killers come. The police officers here also witnessed the shootings.”

The incident follows months of legal troubles for Darlington, who was arrested in October 2024 after releasing a controversial video mocking fellow artist Burna Boy. He was rearrested in November during a show in Owerri and detained for two months before securing a ₦20 million bail from a federal high court in Abuja.

Darlington’s allegations and recent experiences have sparked conversations among fans and observers about the motives behind the attack. Authorities have yet to issue a statement on the matter.
