Controversial rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail after nearly a month in police custody. His counsel, Stanley Alieke, confirmed the development via Instagram on Monday, stating, “Apki has been granted bail by the court,” without providing further details.
Speed Darlington was arrested on November 27 during a performance in Owerri, Imo State. His arrest was linked to alleged verbal abuse of Afrofusion star Burna Boy, reportedly connected to Burna Boy’s association with embattled U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces allegations of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Deji Adeyanju, another of Darlington’s lawyers, alleged Burna Boy’s involvement in orchestrating the arrest. Despite this, Darlington vowed to continue criticizing the Grammy winner.
Earlier, Adeyanju had stated, “Our FREP application for Speed Darlington a.k.a has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail.”
Darlington’s legal team emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice in the case.
