Singer and content creator Speed Darlington, popularly known as AKPI, has been transferred from Owerri to Abuja, according to lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju.
This marks Darlington’s second arrest in two months, following his initial detention on October 4, 2024. His first arrest stemmed from a controversial video in which he allegedly mocked Burna Boy, linking the Nigerian music star to American rapper Diddy, who has faced legal troubles with the FBI.
Darlington’s mother had previously made a public plea, asking Burna Boy to show mercy and calling on Nigerians to support her son, expressing concern over his continued detention as she resides outside the country.
Deji Adeyanju, speaking on the case, emphasized that defamation, often cited in such matters, is a civil issue, not a criminal one.
The case remains ongoing, with further developments expected.
